Carpinteria Creek

This healthy watershed in Ventura County hosts a large population of overwintering western monarchs in its’ tree groves. During their stay here, the monarchs need healthy forests to shelter them from winter storms and native flowers to feed on through the winter. This site is directly adjacent to Carpinteria State Beach and Carpinteria Creek, it is a privately owned plot of land that is lined with Eucalyptus and sycamores along the creek bed. The Ventura County Resource Conservation District has restored this site by adding winter nectar resources nearby the cluster trees.

Things to do nearby: Visit Carpinteria State Beach and seal rookery via the Carpinteria Bluffs trail.
